MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Gov. Kay Ivey was in Mobile Wednesday for the second day of her Pre-K tour.

The Governor visited E.R. Dickson Elementary to see the learning environment there first-hand. Pre-K leaders in Mobile County said the early education program at the school is something to be proud of.

“This is going on 12 years ranked number one in the nation with our pre-k program. It is phenomenal. The most important thing is that our children learn so much once they enter pre-k and we are looking towards writing for additional grants so we can add more children to the program,” said Paula Reese with the Mobile County Public School System.

The governor is promoting childhood literacy as part of her inaugural festivities.
