State highlights local school’s early childhood development program

A local school is being highlighted for their early childhood development program.

The Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education chose Madison County Elementary in Gurley as one of its locations to tell the early childhood development story in the state.

A team visited the school Friday to interview teachers and shoot a story about the success of the program.

“They really want to make sure that new teachers coming in to classrooms have the opportunity to observe what high quality instruction looks like. And they reached out to Ms. Bratlin and said we would really like to feature your classroom as a teaching tool,” Principal Amy Mason said.

The team also visited UAH and a school in Madison. The department is creating a series of videos that can be used by educators around the state for teaching and training in early childhood development.
