Alabama's Head Start State Collaboration Office

The Alabama Head Start State Colllaboration Office (AHSSCO) is located within The Alabama Department of Early Childhood Education and is administratively placed to help ensure a unified early care and education system that supports low-income families.

AHSSCO is a federally funded office that represents Head Start children and families in Alabama's policy and decision making process. The Office facilitates coordinating services and developing partnerships with other state and local agencies inthe following 10 priority areas:
 

  • Health Care
  • Child Welfare
  • Disabilities
  • Professional Development
  • Homelessness
  • Child Care
  • Community Servides
  • Early Childhood Systems
  • Family Literacy
  • Education/School Transition

The AHSSCO works closely with

Early Childhood Learning and Knowldge Center (ECLKC)

The Alabama Head Start Association 
Head Start and Early Head Start Grantees
